COMPUTATIONAL LOGIC INTRODUCES NEW MULTIPURPOSE INTERNET SERVER SOFTWARE

Basic Internet Server Solution Lets Companies Take Full Advantage of the Internet

Austin, TX -- March 29, 1996 -- The Proven Solutions division of Computational Logic, Inc., today announced the release of its Basic Internet Server Solution (BISS), version 1.1, for Sun Solaris. In one comprehensive package, this integrated software suite provides all the programs needed to quickly set up a multipurpose Internet server and easily maintain it over time. BISS dramatically improves companies' ability to fully exploit a complete range of Internet services, such as the World Wide Web, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) capabilities, electronic mail and NetNews (Usenet).

"Normally it takes many man-months and costs tens of thousands of dollars in system administrators' salary alone to set up a complete, integrated, high-caliber Internet server," said Charles Sandel, Technical Director of Computational Logic's Proven Solutions division. "Our solution is far less expensive and much easier to install and maintain."

Multipurpose Internet/Intranet Services Made Easy

While companies want to utilize the Internet, many do not know how to take full advantage of its capabilities. Up until now, Internet software vendors offered only single-purpose servers, such as Web servers. As a result, many end-user organizations-even those equipped with fully functional LANs and client/server architectures-take advantage only of the World Wide Web and miss out on other, equally sophisticated Internet services that improve system security, simplify connectivity, offer state-of-the-art mail and messaging capabilities, and more. BISS makes these services readily available in a well-documented, logically configured software suite that is simple to install and administer. Based on a consistent methodology that also ensures easy maintenance down the road, the installation program conforms to Sun Microsystems' standard installation methods and can be used with either a GUI or a character-based interface. The package includes a high-quality User Guide, free phone support for installation, free e-mail support for 30 days, and free upgrades for one year.

Basic Internet Server Solution Functionality

The programs included in BISS provide key Internet/intranet services required for any company. Specifically, the services give an organization a wide range of capabilities:

Pricing, System Requirements, and Availability

BISS' suggested retail price is $1,950. Available from Sun Microsystems' Value Added Resellers (VARs) and from "Sparc-alike" manufacturers, the package requires Sun Solaris 2.4 or higher, Sparc-based hardware with a hard drive having at least 30MB of free space, a CD-ROM drive, and a floppy-disk drive.
